Boise functions as a regional center for the arts and a number of museums and theater groups are based here: the Idaho Historical Museum, the Boise Art Museum, the Idaho Black History Museum, the Discovery Center of Idaho, the Boise WaterShed and the Basque Museum and Cultural Center. Theater groups in the city include the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, the Boise Little Theater, the Boise Contemporary Theater and Prairie Dog Productions.
